The https/www.uthlabs.gov.zm, UTH laboratory is located on the grounds of the University Hospital (UTH), with the main laboratory buildings located on the southwest side of the UTH campus.
Also, Other laboratory units are located in the Departments of Pediatrics and Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology, UTH D-Block, and Skin Clinic.
The https/www.uthlabs.gov.zm UTH Laboratory is a tertiary level public laboratory facility that provides services to UTH and other health institutions in Zambia.
Also, the laboratory offers tests in the fields of biochemistry, hematology, molecular biology, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, bacteriology, virology, immunology, parasitology, and endocrinology.
The laboratory also works with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on disease surveillance.
Therefore, laboratory strives to continually expand the repertoire of tests offered to reflect medical advances and stays current with current best practices and technological advances.

UTH’s vision is to be “the center of excellence for healthcare in the country and region by providing innovative treatment interventions through ongoing research.”
While the mission statement is: “To provide affordable and of high quality; act as a reference center; train health care providers.

In accordance with its mission statement, the hospital directs its efforts toward research, improvement of general medical care, and operation as a tertiary health care facility.
While it is recognized that tertiary care services are highly specialized and expensive to provide, the center’s challenge has been to reduce the costs of treatment abroad by offering such services locally.
Over time, the institution has developed capabilities in various specialties such as cardiology; Cardiac surgery, ART, PMTCT, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Urology, Orthopedics and Pulmonology.
